GATEAU AU CHOCOLAT WORKSHOP

$200.00

Celebrate Valentine’s Day with the French classic chocolate cake, Gâteau au Chocolat. This cake boasts the profound aroma of Valrhona's 66% Caraïbe chocolate, complemented by a delicate surface that is a pleasure for the palate.

The class begins with a demonstration by the teacher, followed by a hands-on activity by the students (in pairs). Each participant will take home a freshly baked chocolate cake at the end of the class.

STEP 1: DEMONSTRATION

The teacher will guide you step by step on how to make Gâteau au Chocolat. You'll learn techniques like maintaining the chocolate at an optimal temperature to prevent it from cooling and hardening too quickly. Key elements such as French meringue, whipped egg yolks, and flour are carefully combined with the melted chocolate in a precisely timed process.

STEP 2: HANDS-ON

Students will work in pairs to replicate the steps demonstrated in STEP 1, creating their own Gâteau au Chocolat. While the cakes are baking, students will have the opportunity to observe the baking process and prepare for the next demonstration.

STEP 3: DEMONSTRATION

The teacher will demonstrate how to make chocolate decorations by tempering chocolate and cutting it into heart shapes with a cookie cutter. Although there is no hands-on activity for this step, students are welcome to participate. The teacher will also show how to decorate the Gâteau au Chocolat for Valentine’s Day. Students will take home some chocolate hearts to use when decorating their cakes.

STEP 4: TASTING AND Q&A TIME

While the students’ Gâteaux au Chocolat are cooling, there will be time to review the recipe and ask questions. Students will also enjoy a tasting of Gâteau au Chocolat served with raspberries and Chantilly cream, accompanied by tea.
